	2009 Special Awards and Trophies Back to Gallery
			William K. Victor Best of Show 1938 Horch 853 Erdmann & Rossi Special Roadster Owner - Joseph Cassini West Orange , NJ Bill Victor has been one of the longest standing driving forces behind the Ault Park Concours d'Elegance. Since its earliest days as the Midwest Concours d'Elegance, he has held numerous positions ranging from Concours Chairman, Car Selection Chairman, Chief Judge and on to his many years as Master of Ceremonies. No one involved with the show has a broader or deeper knowledge of all vintages and makes of automobiles than Bill. His advice and contributions to making this show what it is today have been invaluable and it is for this reason that in 2009 the Best of Show trophy has been named in his honor from this year forward.

Jaeger Cincinnati , OH This trophy is awarded to the vehicle that is found to be the most desirable car to be driven on the day of the show. To be eligible, the owner must be willing to take the presenter, Dave Sheehy, for a drive in the chosen vehicle.
			Founder’s Trophy 1925 Kissel Gold Bug Speedster Owner - Herb L. Krombholz Cincinnati , OH One trophy, awarded by Mrs. Helen Williams, to the vehicle best exemplifying the spirit of the original Concours d'Elegance, an event for car enthusiasts who love to drive their cars.
			Howard Rapp Trophy (Best Porsche) Sponsored by American Modern Insurance Group 1952 Porsche 356 Glaser Cabriolet Owner - . Taj Ma Garaj Dayton , OH Howard and Marian Rapp helped begin this event. Howard was the first car registration chairman and maintained that position for a number of years. He also solicited advertising and supported the event financially. Howard Rapp loved his 356 Porsches. He owned several during his life. Howard and his wife were very active members of the Porsche Club, traveling to many events over the years. This award is given in Howard's name, not to a car, but to an owner who best exemplifies Howard's rapture in the enjoyment of a Porsche.
			Jack O’Connor Trophy (Best Style & Elegance, Open Coachwork) 1935 Mercedes-Benz 500K Special Roadster Owner - Kemp Auto Museum Chesterfield , MO As one of the founders of this event, Jack O'Connor orchestrated the "car" part of the first shows. His contacts in the old car hobby ran broad and deep. Jack loved open cars. He owned well over 100 different cars, almost all convertibles or roadsters. This award is given, in Jack O'Connor's name, to the open car that best represents his lifelong love of automobile style and elegance.
			E.P. Lunken Trophy (Best Ferrari) 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Coupe Owner - Tom Jones Nicholasville , KY One trophy, awarded to the best Ferrari in memory of Ebby Lunken, noted Ferrari racer, enthusiast and long time supporter of the Concours.
			R.C. Fogle Trophy (Judges Choice) Sponsored by The Fogle Family 1959 Lesovsky Indy Roadster Owner - Robert B. McConnell Urbana , OH R.C. Fogle was active with this event as head judge and committee member from 1988 until his passing. R.C. loved all types of automobiles. His vast collection remains today as proof of his passion. Able to find beauty in all, he could never limit himself to just one marque. His collection includes models from the 1920's to the 1960's and includes both American and European models. This award is given in R.C.'s name, as Judge's Choice, to the outstanding car that represents both superior craftsmanship and style.
			Samuel Adams Award (Most Elegant Closed Coachwork) Sponsored by Samuel Adams Brewing Co 1969 Mercedes-Benz 600 SWB Limousine Owner - Karl Schreiner Sante Fe , NM Samuel Adams Boston Beer Company has been an active sponsor of the Ault Park Concours d'Elegance. Founders Jim Koch and father Charles Koch of Cincinnati, avid collectors of classic era automobiles, present the Samuel Adams Trophy to the most elegantly styled closed-car.
			Best British Sports Car Sponsored by Dayton Wheel Concepts 1932 MG M-Type Roadster Owner - Ray and Carol McCrary Nashville , TN Being a manufacturer of new and restored historic wire wheels, Dayton Wheel Concepts of Dayton, Ohio sponsors this trophy on behalf of the great British passion for the sports car.
			Jim Ibold Preservation Award 1936 A.C. 16/70 Coupe Owner - Jim & Lucy McMahon Cincinnati , OH A.James Ibold, known to most of us as "Jimmie", became enthralled with pre-war Alfa-Romeos after watching local mechanic Walter Moeller maintain an Alfa 308 for Indianapolis racing. In the early '50's, Jimmie acquired two, pre-war, 8 cylinder Alfa-Romeos. One was an 8C 2300 with a Figoni Drophead body. The other was what many consider the ultimate collectible car - a 1937 8C 2900B Touring Spider. His car was one of four short wheelbase cars. It was shown at the 1937 Earls Court Salon in London. The original owner was Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. Jimmie spent 50 years preserving these cars as they came to him. He never stinted on anything either car needed mechanically. Many times parts had to be made from scratch as only 40 plus cars were ever built. Cosmetically, he did all he could to maintain the cars in their original condition. Jimmie loved these cars and drove them often for as long as he was able. We were fortunate to have Jimmie display these cars at Ault Park many times. The Jim Ibold Preservation Award is now named in his honor.

			Bill Hess Award for Design Excellence 1994 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible 4-Dr. Owner - Carl H. Lindner, Jr. Cincinnati , OH Bill Hess' legacy with Hess & Eisenhardt is characterized by a dedication to design and building of quality custom automobiles. One of the most advanced stylists in the business, his customers included Presidents, actors and kings who chose his vehicles for their beauty and quality. He believed that a company that produced a quality product would endure. It is for that accomplishment that this award is given for design excellence.

			Bill Rudd “Best Vette” Honorary Trophy 1954 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster Owner - Bill Spate Loudon , TN Over thirty years ago a small group of people, including Bill Rudd, started the first Concours d'Elegance with a twofold purpose. First, it was an event to raise monies for the many worthwhile activities of the Arthritis Foundation. Secondly, it was an opportunity for local car collectors to socialize and share their interest in cars. Bill and his family have managed the entry gates of the Concours ever since. Bill's favorites were the Corvettes, particularly the earlier straight axle cars. Bill succumbed to the effects of his severe arthritis in 2007. We honor his 30-year participation by presenting the annual Bill Rudd best Corvette Award.
